Smoke-Free Environment
Washington Hospital Center
has a
completely tobacco-free environment. This means that all tobacco products will be banned from the Hospital Center campus and off-site locations, including its parking lots, garages and courtyards. This policy applies to everyone: visitors, employees, physicians, patients, volunteers and students.

If you anticipate having difficulty complying with these
requirements, ask your doctor or nurse about smoking cessation techniques or
products. Smoking Cessation: Smoking cigarettes tops the list of major risk
factors of our number one killer - heart and blood vessel disease - as well as a
long list of other diseases. Smoking also harms thousands of non-smokers who are
exposed to cigarette smoke. If you are a smoker and would like to quit, ask your
nurse for educational materials related to smoking cessation.
