Washington Women's Wellness Center

The Washington Women's Wellness Center, a division of Women's and Infants' Services at Washington Hospital Center, is a full service department, which includes consultation, treatment and referral for a full range of gynecologic disorders, and normal and high-risk obstetrics. Physicians in the department believe in the importance of regular medical evaluation for women of all ages and stages of life.

Our private state-of-the-art maternity wing, utilizing labor and delivery suites, is equipped to provide the comforts of a homelike environment with access to full resources of a major medical center to handle normal and high-risk deliveries. Each spacious suite has the latest in monitoring equipment needed for a safe childbirth. The nursing staff on our postpartum wing is specially trained to prepare expectant families for the new baby. Lactation specialists are available before and after delivery. Our experienced team of neonatologists provides 24-hour coverage in our level-three neonatal intensive unit.


The Department reflects the graduate medical education commitment of the Washington Hospital Center. We feature an OB/Gyn residency; fully approved and highly sought after. In addition, we have fellows in advanced training in gynecologic oncology and urogynecology. The commitment to education includes programs teaching attending physicians from all over the United States in minimally invasive surgical procedures.

We support expectant parents ' needs by offering a wide range of classes designed to help families prepare for the baby's arrival. Our programs are designed with every family member in mind. Families will have an opportunity to learn more about prepared childbirth, breast-feeding, infant care and safety, sibling adjustment, parenting and grandparenting skills, and more! Most classes are held at Washington Hospital Center and prices include parking and refreshments. Free tours of the labor and delivery suite are available to expectant families. Routine gynecological services include:

  • annual well-women exams
  • pap smears
  • pelvic exams
  • family planning and birth control methods
  • breast exams
  • sexually transmitted infection treatment
  • tubal ligation
Services also include options and lifestyle measures to manage the discomforts and concerns that are sometimes associated with perimenopause and menopause, such as bone mineral loss and cardiovascular disease . Our physicians perform all gynecological procedures including state-of-the-art approaches to hysteroscopy, microsurgery and videolaparoscopy-pelviscopy. Consultation and/or management of gynecological malignancies are conducted by two certified gynecologic oncologists. Radiation, surgical and chemotherapeutic programs are also provided. Pelvic floor disorders , such as urinary incontinence are treated by two fully trained urogynecologists.

Comprehensive prenatal care provides a full range of services for expectant parents. Services include:

  • preconception counseling
  • pregnancy testing
  • ultrasound
  • prenatal diagnosis and screening including biochemical and DNA genetic testing .
