The Washington Hospital Center House Call Program

Many elders in our community struggle with disability and chronic illnesses, such as dementia, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease or arthritis. Often, such elders go without care, because they have trouble getting to the doctor's office.  As a result, their health status declines, and they may require emergency care or hospitalization, which are both traumatic and costly.  In 1999, to meet the need of ill and disabled elders, the Washington Hospital Center created the Medical House Call Program.
