International services

In addition to providing language interpreters, our International Services Department can assist patients with their international insurance policies, schedule follow up physician appointments and tests, and provide concierge service to coordinate travel. International Services can arrange ground transportation to and from all three local airports, and assist with hotel accommodations at the hospital’s on campus hotel or other area hotels. Please call 202-877-2100 to arrange for these services.

Washington, D.C. airports

Washington, D.C., airports include:

  • Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA)
  • Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD)
  • Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI)

Getting to the Hospital Center

The Hospital Center is closest to Reagan National Airport, but you can also fly into Dulles or Baltimore Washington International Airport.  Travel options to the hotels are as follows:

Metro

If you are flying into Reagan National, you can take the Metro into Washington, D.C. You can take the Yellow line towards Mt. Vernon Square/Fort Totten, switch to the Red line at Gallery Place/Chinatown and take this line towards Shady Grove. You will then get off at the Dupont Circle Metro station.  This ride should take approximately 30 minutes and cost less than $3. The recommended hotels are all Metro-accessible and near the Dupont Metro stop. You can learn more about Metro by visiting its website at www.wmata.org.

Super shuttle

Super Shuttle transportation is available from all three airports.  It can be reached via its website at www.supershuttle.com, or by phone at 800-BLUE-VAN (800-258-3826).  Fares range from $14-$37 each way, depending on the distance from the airport you use to your hotel.

Taxis

Taxis usually line up around the ground transportation and baggage exits.  Rates can vary but typically run from $30-$90 each way, depending on which airport you are using.

Where to stay

Washington Hospital Center has 30 suites located on the hospital campus. Amenities include a fully equipped fitness center, a laundry facility, a refreshment center, a lounge, and safety deposit boxes. Each suite is equipped with a private bath and shower with separate vanity area, cable TV (including HBO), daily housekeeping, and many other conveniences. Please call 202-877-2300 for more information. Space is very limited. Please make reservations in advance. All recommended hotels are located in the Dupont Circle area. If you prefer, you may want to find a hotel closer to the Hospital Center, which may be less expensive.
