Philosophy

The philosophy of the program is to prepare residents for pathology practice by exposing them to a wide spectrum of case material (routine and unusual) seen in clinical and anatomic pathology a large tertiary care teaching center, and to teach a logical diagnostic approach to clinical situations and problems. The program provides training in surgical pathology, cytopathology, autopsy pathology, molecular pathology, dermatopathology, hematopathology, neuropathology, electron microscopy, pediatric pathology, immunohistopathology and forensic pathology. The clinical portion of training includes, clinical chemistry, hematology and coagulation, transfusion medicine and donor center, microbiology, virology, parasitology, transplantation, management and informatics, diagnostic immunology, flow cytometry, cytogenetics and a specialized lipid rotation. Residents are required to participate in research activities and are exposed to multiple inter and intra-departmental conferences.
