|MedStar Washington Hospital Center: One of America’s “Best Hospitals”
July 17, 2012
Washington, D.C., July 17, 2012 – Once again, MedStar Washington Hospital Center has been named one of "America’s Best Hospitals: 2012-13” by U.S.News & World Report.
This marks the 16th year the magazine has cited the Hospital Center for excellence in Cardiology and Heart Surgery, ranked at 41. The magazine also ranked the hospital’s nine specialties as high-performing. They include: Cancer; Diabetes & Endocrinology; Gastroenterology; Geriatrics; Gynecology; Nephrology; Orthopedics; Pulmonology and Urology.
"We’re proud to be recognized as a health care leader among the top hospitals in the country and as the very best option for care in the nation’s capital,” added David White, vice president, Public Affairs and Marketing at MedStar Washington Hospital Center.
This year’s Best Hospitals rankings showcase 732 of the nation’s 4,800 hospitals. Fewer than 150 are nationally ranked in at least one of 16 medical specialties. The rest of the recognized hospitals met a standard of performance nearly as demanding in one or more specialties.
The complete rankings are posted online at http://health.usnews.com/best-hospitals. Highlights of the 2012-13 rankings will appear in the U.S. News Best Hospitals 2013 guidebook that’ll be available in August.
