Reiki Therapy for Stress Relief

Everything in the universe is made of energy, including our bodies.  But stress, injury and disease can block the body’s energy flow. Reiki, a form of energy itself, allows the release of negative energy and awakens the body’s natural ability to heal.

To experience Reiki on your own:

  1. Begin by sitting comfortably or lying down.
  2. Focus inward, paying attention to your body.
  3. Is there a place in your body that is calling to you? Listen with compassion.
  4. Set an intention for yourself (decide what you hope to achieve through this session), and be loving (open) to what occurs.
  5. Lightly place your hands palm down over the area wanting care.
  6. Hold that position for three to five minutes.
  7. Feel the energy flow.

Reiki therapy is offered at Washington Cancer Institute for patients and their caretakers on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Tuesdays from noon to 4 p.m.  For more information or to make an appointment, call 202-877-8758.
