Aviation services provided by Metro AviationMedSTAR (Medical Shock Trauma Acute Resuscitation) is the Level I Trauma Center at Washington Hospital Center. It is a regional resource for transport and treatment of a wide spectrum of critical illnesses and injuries. MedSTAR’s facilities include six resuscitation areas, an operating room and equipment to assess, diagnose and treat life-threatening illnesses or injuries. Aviation services provided by Metro Aviation

MedSTAR nurses, intensive care nurses, a respiratory therapist, a MedSTAR paramedic, a cardiovascular technician, a blood bank technician and a X-ray technician. Physicians from all medical specialties are available on a 24-hour basis. They include specialists in:

  • Cardiovascular surgery
  • Microvascular surgery

Trauma

The section of trauma is known as a regional referral resource for patients with severe and multiple system injuries. The unit specializes in the care of life-threatening injuries and has an international reputation for the quality of care provided. Patients can be referred. Transport can be arranged from a referring hospital or from the site of the injury.
