The Women's and Infants' Services Division at MedStar Washington Hospital Center has established a unique partnership with Unity Health Care, Inc. to deliver quality obstetric and gynecological health care to uninsured, underinsured and medically underserved women in the community.

Unity Health Care, Inc. is a non-profit organization that provides medical services to patients living at or below the federal poverty level. Services are provided at no cost to the patient, or billed on a sliding fee scale based on income and family size. Unity also accepts patients covered by Medicaid, Medicare (Part B), Health Right and other Medicaid managed care organizations, D.C. Healthcare Alliance and most private insurance carriers.

As the largest not-for-profit hospital in the metropolitan region, MedStar Washington Hospital Center shares Unity Health Care's mission of caring for the underserved. Physicians, midwives and a physician's assistant from the hospital's Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology see patients at Unity Health Care clinics to provide a broad range of reproductive and gynecological health care services, from adolescence to menopause. These same providers also deliver inpatient services at the hospital.
