Surgery

Our department offers comprehensive, state-of-the-art reconstructive surgery for post-traumatic and cancer-related problems of the head and neck. A full range of surgical procedures are performed by experienced and nationally respected surgeons for problems affecting the face, head, nose, ears, jaws, mouth and throat.

An interdisciplinary team approach is used to evaluate the nature and severity of the problem in order to determine the best treatment. Our surgical team includes physicians with training in:

• Otolaryngology
• Oral surgery
• Plastic surgery

Maxillofacial prosthodontics specialists are available for facial and oral rehabilitation, including replacement of missing teeth using dental implants.

We work closely with plastic surgeons to determine the procedures that will be best to preserve your cosmetic appearance. Reconstruction following surgery may involve rotating skin and muscle into the area of cancer resection, skin grafts, or flaps taken from your arm or leg to replace tissue and/or bone (free flap reconstruction).
