Jonathan A. Cosin, MD

Jonathan A. Cosin, MD, is section director of gynecologic oncology at MedStar Washington Hospital Center. He specializes in all areas of gynecologic oncology, with a special interest in minimally- invasive surgery. Dr. Cosin is a regional expert in the use of the da Vinci® S^TM Surgical Robotic System for the treatment of gynecologic cancers.

Dr. Cosin also has a keen interest in international health care, and has participated in volunteer medical mission trips to the Philippines and Grenada.

Training, Education and Research
Dr. Cosin earned his medical degree from New York Medical College. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts, and a fellowship in gynecologic oncology at the University of Minnesota Hospital and Clinics in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Dr. Cosin holds academic appointments at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences and Georgetown University School of Medicine.

Dr. Cosin is site principal investigator at MedStar Washington Hospital Center for the gynecologic oncology group.

Honors, Awards and Society Memberships
Dr. Cosin is a fellow of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of numerous professional organizations, including the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists, the American Society for Clinical Oncology, the Mid-Atlantic and Western Associations of Gynecologic Oncology, the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology, and the Association of Professors in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr. Cosin is the recipient of several grant awards, and is the author of numerous publications. He is a special reviewer for the journals Gynecologic Oncology and Cancer .

Dr. Cosin has received several teaching awards, including the Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology (CREOG) National Faculty Award for Excellence in Resident Education.

Credentialed Areas
Dr. Cosin is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology, and gynecologic oncology. He is fully credentialed on the daVinci® Surgical System. Dr. Cosin is also certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners.

He holds medical licenses in the District of Columbia and Maryland.
