Our team of physicians at the Thyroid Institute and Thyroid Cancer Center at Washington Cancer Institute at Washington Hospital Center treat the largest volume of patients with thyroid tumors in the Washington metropolitan area.  Our experienced and board certified physicians practice multidisciplinary medicine for the treatment of thyroid cancers and thyroid disorders.

Expertise in Treatment
Most types of thyroid cancer can be curable when caught early, but often may require aggressive treatment using surgery and/or chemotherapy and radiation.  Our Center also uses targeted medical chemotherapy for thyroid cancer, which involves the use of specialized drugs to inhibit proteins that cause the cancer to grow.

Our physicians  have written widely-used texts for both physicians and patients about thyroid cancers. and are considered internationally-renowned experts in the treatment of thyroid-related disease.

Multidisciplinary Tumor Board
At our Center, a multidisciplinary tumor board meets each week to discuss new cases and diagnostic and treatment options. Endocrinologists, radiologists, pathologists, medical oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians and radiation oncologists attend this tumor board, and their combined experience results in optimal diagnostic and treatment options for patients.
