Parking and Entrances

Parking is available for patients and visitors in the Physicians Office Garage and Hospital Garage parking garages. The medical imaging and neuroscience centers have separate parking areas. Patients are instructed how to access these parking areas at the time their appointments are made.

Parking garages can be very busy at certain times; please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early to allow for garage delays.

The Hospital Garage is the one closest to the main entrance of the hospital. This is the best parking lot to use when visiting patients and the following departments:

The Physicians Office Garage is attached to the Physicians Office Building, across from the MedStar National Rehabilitation Network. This is the best parking garage to use to access:

ENTRANCES

There are five main public entrances to MedStar Washington Hospital Center. Each entrance has a welcome desk staffed during the hours of 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. with people who can help you reach your destination. After 9 p.m., the only public entrance to the hospital is through the emergency room.

VALET PARKING:

Valet parking is available at the main entrance of MedStar Washington Hospital Center for patients and visitors from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday. The charge is an additional $1 above the hourly self-park. Patients with a disability tag in their vehicles will be provided valet services at no additional cost.

PARKING RATES:

DISCOUNT PARKING COUPONS (LONG-TERM PATIENT):

Discount parking coupons are available to long term patients and guests to park at a reduced parking rate of $40 for a book of ten (10) stickers. Each sticker can be used to exit the garage one time. For those guests who want to be able to leave and return in the same day, a ten-day pass card is available for $45 that must be used over ten consecutive days. They are available from the parking office in the ground floor of the Blue parking garage. Office hours are 7a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. View more details on parking discounts.

Individuals visiting long term care patients may also be eligible for parking discounts. Please stop by the patient and guest services desk in the Main Lobby, or call 202-877-3172 or 202-877-3370.

COURTESY PARKING:

Courtesy parking is available to patients on the day of discharge within a 24-hour period, and to blood donors. Tickets may be validated at the Cashier’s Window in the Main Lobby from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. After hours, tickets may be validated at the Admitting Desk in the Main Lobby until 8 p.m., and in the Admitting Office (Room NA-1232) from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. weekdays and all day Saturday and Sunday.
